A question of scale.

The French Revolution project i swell under way in 1:72/20mm but I have other irons in the fire which have thrown up the question of figure size and compatibility so here are some pictures which give a vague indication of the comparative sizes of various ranges:

Left to right - large Italeri 1:72 Austrians, HaT 28mm French, Spencer Smith 30mm French, Victrix 28mm French and Perry Miniatures 28mm British...

Same again from a different angle - not sure you could use those on the right with those on the left but they don't look COMPLETELY ridiculous.

  1. It's amazing what looks okay once you have them on the tabletop.
We often mix in a few true 25 mm figs with our 1/72nd and also the Newline 20 mm ones and don't even notice.
The most 'extreme' version is my friend Ben (aka Monsieur Rosbif) who uses his 1/72nd at a club that is mainly 25/28 mm, including the new 'giants'. In the game it matters little and you only see the difference occasionally in the photos.
What is you next planned game?

  2. You will be thrilled to hear that I have finally fought the first battle from my book - its a sort of play and plug - actually to be honest I wrote the book because it sounded like a good wargame so its going to be French Revolutionary Wars next - I have actually completed the game so its just a matter of posting the pics
